The Anubis Gates

Brendan Doyle, a mild-mannered twentieth-century English professor specializing in Romantic poets, seizes a unique opportunity to travel back to 1810 London to attend a lecture by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. However, his academic excursion quickly devolves into a desperate fight for survival when he is kidnapped by gypsies and inadvertently stranded in a grotesquely vivid past. This isn't the London he studied; it's a labyrinthine underworld teeming with bizarre deformities, organized beggar cults, dangerous magic, and insane homunculi. Stripped of his modern comforts and knowledge, Doyle is forced to shed his scholarly persona and adapt, transforming into a street-smart con man, an escape artist, and even a swordsman. He navigates a world where he faces murderous beggars, freezing waters, mutant-infested dungeons, poisoning, and even an accidental plunge further back to 1684. With encounters involving Coleridge, Lord Byron, a tinkerer creating genetic monstrosities, and a body-hopping werewolf, Doyle must master this treacherous reality to find a way home, or forever be lost in its dark, magical depths.
