Rivers of London

Synopsis

Peter Grant's life as a probationary constable in the Metropolitan Police takes an extraordinary turn when he attempts to take a statement from a murder witness who happens to be a ghost. This bizarre encounter brings him to the attention of Detective Chief Inspector Thomas Nightingale, the last officially sanctioned English wizard and head of a covert branch of the Met dedicated to crimes of magic and the uncanny. Suddenly, Peter is plunged into a hidden London where ancient gods and goddesses inhabit the city's rivers, fae creatures lurk in the shadows, and a long-dormant evil stirs beneath the surface. As a wave of brutal and inexplicable murders engulfs the capital, Peter, now Nightingale's apprentice, must navigate a world of spells, spirits, and supernatural threats. Combining his police training with burgeoning magical abilities, he faces a daunting task: uncover the malevolent force threatening London and prevent the old and new worlds from colliding in catastrophic fashion, all while trying to master the basics of magic without blowing himself up.
