Synopsis

As the climactic final act of The First Law trilogy unfolds, the world teeters on the brink of chaos. Logen Ninefingers, the infamous Bloody-Nine, finds himself drawn back into the brutal Northern war, facing his oldest friend turned bitter enemy in a conflict that will decide the fate of the North. In the Union, the cynical and tortured Inquisitor Glokta navigates a treacherous web of political intrigue, blackmail, and desperate power struggles as the ailing King's death looms, and the powerful First of the Magi, Bayaz, manipulates events from the shadows. Meanwhile, the vain and reluctant hero Jezal dan Luthar, yearning for a quiet life, is thrust back into the glare of glory and responsibility, discovering that love and ambition come with their own heavy costs. With war raging, conspiracies festering, and the ancient magic of the First Law threatening to break, the destinies of these disparate individuals converge in a grand, bloody symphony, where heroism is scarce, and every victory comes at a terrible price. The end is coming, and no one is safe from its reckoning.
