Synopsis

Jessamyn Teoh, closeted, broke, and jobless, finds her life upended when she returns to Malaysia with her parents. Already stressed, she begins to hear a voice in her head, which she soon discovers belongs to the ghost of her estranged grandmother, Ah Ma. In life, Ah Ma was a powerful spirit medium and avatar of the mysterious deity, the Black Water Sister. Now, from beyond the grave, Ah Ma is determined to exact revenge on a powerful business magnate who offended the god, and she's chosen Jess as her unwilling instrument. Drawn into a dangerous world of ancient gods, vengeful spirits, and deep-seated family secrets, Jess must navigate her grandmother's capricious demands and attempts to control her life and even her body. As Jess helps Ah Ma settle scores, she fights to reclaim her autonomy and destiny before the Black Water Sister consumes her entirely, all while grappling with her own identity and secrets.
