Synopsis

Atticus O'Sullivan, the two-thousand-year-old last living Druid, finds his Arizona haven under siege once more. Despite a long-standing non-aggression pact with the local Sisterhood of the Three Auroras, a new, ruthless coven sweeps into town, determined to assert their dominance. This fresh magical threat is just the beginning of Atticus's woes, as a contingent of hedonistic Bacchants arrives from Las Vegas, and a truly monstrous fallen angel develops a taste for high school students. Overwhelmed and outnumbered, Atticus must reluctantly enlist the help of powerful, unpredictable allies. He calls upon the trickster god Coyote, the unique talents of the head-hopping witch Laksha Kulesekaran, and even his neighbor's illicit arsenal. Complicating matters further, he's forced to strike a deal with his vampire attorney, Leif Helgarson, a bargain that might demand a price far greater than money. To protect his apprentice, Granuaile, and his adopted city from this diabolical convergence of ancient evils and mortal hexes, Atticus must think fast, fight harder, and rely on his ancient wisdom and legendary sword, hoping to survive another day in his extraordinarily long life. This installment deepens the Iron Druid Chronicles with its signature blend of action, humor, and rich mythology.
