Synopsis

In a bleak and decaying London, a terrifying new threat emerges from the shadows. The city's underbelly, already rife with poverty and despair, becomes the breeding ground for an evolutionary nightmare: giant, hyper-intelligent, and ferociously aggressive rats. These grotesque rodents, possibly mutated by unseen forces, begin a coordinated and relentless assault on humanity. What starts as isolated, gruesome attacks quickly escalates into a full-scale invasion, overwhelming the populace and infrastructure. As society teeters on the brink of collapse, one man, bewildered by the escalating terror, must navigate the infested streets and confront the horrifying reality that mankind is no longer at the top of the food chain. James Herbert's debut novel plunges readers into a visceral, relentless struggle for survival against an unstoppable, ravenous horde, tapping into primal fears with gruesome detail and unrelenting suspense.
