The Time of Contempt

Synopsis

In "The Time of Contempt," the second novel in Andrzej Sapkowski's acclaimed Witcher saga, the delicate political and magical landscape of the Continent teeters on the brink of war. Geralt of Rivia, the legendary monster hunter, finds his duty shifting from tracking beasts to protecting Ciri, the Child of Elder Blood, whose destiny is intertwined with the fate of the world. He entrusts her training to the powerful sorceress Yennefer at the prestigious Aretuza school, hoping to hone Ciri's burgeoning magical abilities. However, the supposed sanctuary becomes a hotbed of intrigue as the Conclave of Mages gathers for a pivotal summit, riddled with factionalism, betrayal, and political maneuvering. Geralt and Yennefer are drawn into this treacherous web, battling not only external threats but also the dangerous machinations within the Wizard's Guild itself. As kingdoms prepare for conflict and prophecies unfold, Ciri's unique powers become a target, forcing Geralt to confront a far more complex and perilous world than any monster's lair.
