Synopsis

Eleanor Flood, a woman perpetually on the brink of self-improvement, wakes with a resolute plan: today will be different. She vows to tackle her personal chaos, initiating small but significant changes – showering, dressing, attending poetry and yoga, and reigniting intimacy with her husband, Joe. However, life, with its characteristic disarray, immediately intervenes. Her son, Timby, feigns illness to spend the day with her, while Joe mysteriously declares a vacation to his office without informing Eleanor. As her meticulously planned day unravels, a chance encounter with a former colleague unveils a graphic memoir that threatens to expose a deeply buried family secret. Maria Semple's 'Today Will Be Different' is a hilarious and poignant journey through one woman's tumultuous day, exploring themes of reinvention, sisterhood, and the sometimes-painful necessity of confronting one's past to embrace a new future.
