Synopsis

In Rex Stout's gripping mystery, "And Be a Villain," the eccentric and corpulent detective Nero Wolfe is called upon to unravel a most public and perplexing murder. The victim, one of Madeline Fraser's on-air guests, collapses and dies live on a radio show after consuming a sponsor's drink, turning a broadcaster's nightmare into a chilling reality. Wolfe, with his inimitable assistant Archie Goodwin, agrees to take the case, but quickly finds himself embroiled in a conspiracy of silence. Everyone connected to the victim and the incident seems to be lying in concert, obfuscating the truth at every turn. As Wolfe delves deeper into the intricate web of deception, he realizes that the initial secret worth concealing is merely a smokescreen for an even darker, more dangerous truth—a secret worth killing for. The case challenges Wolfe's brilliant mind, forcing him to navigate a labyrinth of falsehoods to expose the villain hiding in plain sight.
