Synopsis

In David Baldacci's gripping fourth installment of the King and Maxwell series, 'First Family,' a children's birthday celebration at the presidential retreat, Camp David, turns into a national crisis when the President’s niece is snatched. Former Secret Service agents Sean King and Michelle Maxwell are thrust back into the high-stakes world of Washington D.C. when the First Lady, desperate and trusting only them, enlists their help to recover the missing child. The FBI, however, is vehemently against private investigators meddling in such a sensitive case, creating immediate friction. King's past connection to the First Lady—having saved her husband from political ruin years prior—adds a layer of complex history and potential secrets to their investigation. As Maxwell grapples with her own personal demons, the duo faces formidable opposition from all sides, including powerful forces determined to obstruct their search. Racing against time to save an innocent life, King and Maxwell find themselves navigating a treacherous landscape where loyalties are ambiguous, and the line between ally and enemy becomes perilously blurred.
