Synopsis

Alan York, a professional steeplechase jockey, is thrown into a dangerous quest for justice when his friend and fellow rider, Bill Davidson, dies in a suspicious fall during a race. Unconvinced by the official explanation of an accident, York returns to the fateful fence, uncovering a tell-tale coil of wire that reveals the fall was deliberately engineered. With the police unwilling to believe his theory, York takes matters into his own hands, transforming into an amateur sleuth. His investigation quickly plunges him into the murky world of ruthless race-fixers operating out of Brighton. As Alan delves deeper, he finds himself ensnared in a web of deceit, conspiracy, and violence. What began as a personal vendetta for his friend's murder soon escalates into a desperate fight for his own life, as he races against time to expose the powerful gang before they silence him permanently. "Dead Cert" is a classic Dick Francis thriller, masterfully blending authentic horse racing detail with heart-pounding suspense.
