Synopsis

Matilda Wormwood is a child prodigy born into a family that neither understands nor appreciates her extraordinary intellect. Her parents, a crooked car salesman and a bingo-obsessed housewife, neglect and belittle her, viewing her love for books as an oddity. Sent to Crunchem Hall Primary School, Matilda encounters the monstrous headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, a former Olympic hammer-thrower who despises children and delights in devising cruel punishments, including the dreaded 'Chokey'. However, Matilda finds a kindred spirit in her kind and gentle teacher, Miss Honey, who recognizes her genius. As the injustices mount, Matilda discovers she possesses a secret, telekinetic power. Fueled by a desire for justice and to protect her beloved teacher, Matilda decides to use her unique abilities to teach the tyrannical adults in her life a lesson they will never forget, leading to a truly magical and transformative climax.
