In Daniel Silva's 'The Messenger,' master art restorer and Israeli spy Gabriel Allon finds himself thrust into his most perilous mission yet. Following the death of an al-Qaeda suspect in London, incriminating photographs surface, pointing to an audacious plot targeting the very heart of the Vatican. Allon swiftly alerts his old friend, Monsignor Luigi Donati, the Pope's private secretary, and races to Rome to bolster security. However, they soon discover a chilling truth: the Vatican's defenses have been compromised from within, with a formidable and insidious enemy already embedded. What ensues is a high-stakes, globe-trotting cat-and-mouse game across Europe and the Caribbean, as Allon and his elite team engage in a deadly duel of wits against one of the world's most dangerous masterminds.
