Synopsis

In the untamed American West, Ian Vance, a hardened bounty hunter known by many names including 'Night Hawk,' lives a life devoid of tenderness since the brutal murder of his wife years ago. Driven by a grim sense of justice, he relentlessly pursues outlaws, believing love is forever lost to him. However, his world is upended when he's tasked with delivering Maggie Freeman, a sharp-eyed beauty, to the law. Maggie, an orphan who has always navigated trouble with fierce independence, now faces a relentless vigilante mob determined to see her hang for a crime she didn't commit. Forced to accept help for the first time, she finds herself reluctantly allied with the formidable Ian. As their paths intertwine, Maggie challenges Ian's resolve to remain detached, forcing him to confront the possibility that he might still have something profound left to lose, and perhaps, to feel.

Critical Reception

"Beverly Jenkins, celebrated as the premier name in African-American historical romance, masterfully delivers a "blistering tale of high-stakes romance" that solidifies her status as an essential voice in the genre."
