Following the tragic loss of their parents and a harrowing encounter with the nefarious Count Olaf, the Baudelaire orphans—Violet, Klaus, and Sunny—are sent to live with their next guardian: Dr. Montgomery Montgomery, a kindly herpetologist known to them as Uncle Monty. His sprawling home, filled with a magnificent collection of exotic and often venomous reptiles, seems a haven compared to their previous misfortunes. However, their brief respite is shattered when a new assistant, Stephano, arrives, bearing an uncanny resemblance to their persistent nemesis, Count Olaf, albeit with a dubious disguise. Despite the children's desperate warnings, Uncle Monty remains oblivious to the danger lurking in his midst. As Stephano plots to steal their fortune once again, the Baudelaires must navigate a house full of snakes, a peculiar guardian, and a familiar villain determined to eliminate anyone who stands in his way. Their intelligence and resourcefulness are put to the ultimate test as they race against time to expose Olaf's true identity and avert another 'unfortunate event'.
