Synopsis

In the grim landscape of Aberdeen, DS Logan McRae finds himself entangled in a chilling double investigation that pushes the boundaries of the city's dark underbelly. A brutal serial rapist is terrorizing women, leaving a trail of suffering in his wake, and Logan's own girlfriend, PC Jackie 'Ball Breaker' Watson, volunteers as bait in a desperate attempt to catch the perpetrator. Simultaneously, Logan is called to an unsettling scene: a blood-drenched body unceremoniously dumped outside Accident and Emergency. His inquiries quickly lead him into the shadowy and complex world of the local bondage community, where a taste for violent death seems to have taken hold, drawing him deep into a labyrinth of pornographers, sex-shops, and the hidden practices of S&M. Adding to the chaos, the prime suspect in the high-profile rape case is none other than Aberdeen Football Club's star striker. While Jackie is fiercely convinced of his guilt and hell-bent on securing a conviction, Logan harbors serious doubts, fearing they are pursuing the wrong man. As Logan navigates these two converging nightmares, he must confront the disturbing truths lurking beneath the Granite City's veneer, risking everything to uncover justice in a world where pleasure and pain, desire and death, are frighteningly intertwined.
