Synopsis

Haunted by a tragic past, Brat Farrar, a young man recently returned to England from America, finds his life irrevocably altered when he encounters Alec Loding. Loding, a manipulative actor with intimate knowledge of the wealthy Ashby family, is struck by Brat's uncanny resemblance to the long-lost Patrick Ashby, twin brother to the family's heir, Simon. Patrick had vanished years ago, presumed dead by suicide. Loding devises a audacious scheme: Brat is to impersonate Patrick, claiming his rightful inheritance and the family estate, Latchetts, from Simon. Reluctantly, but drawn by the allure of the estate's renowned stables, Brat agrees. He is meticulously coached by Loding on the Ashby family history, secrets, and mannerisms. As Brat infiltrates the unsuspecting family, including the kind Aunt Bee and his 'siblings,' he becomes entangled in a web of deceit, affection, and growing danger. The imposter's facade is constantly under threat, especially as the true circumstances of Patrick's disappearance and the family's dark secrets begin to surface, forcing Brat to confront not only his identity but also a perilous past he never knew was his.
