Ty Franck is an American author, best known as the other half of the James S. A. Corey writing team. Before co-creating "The Expanse" series, Franck worked as a personal assistant to George R. R. Martin. His initial concept for "The Expanse" originated as a setting for a tabletop role-playing game. He brought the vast universe, the political machinations, and the hard science fiction elements to the collaboration, which Daniel Abraham then helped to develop into novel form.
