Born in Guangzhou, China, in 1996, she immigrated to the United States with her family at age four and grew up in Dallas, Texas. Kuang is a highly accomplished academic, having earned an MPhil in Chinese Studies from the University of Cambridge and an MPhil in Modern Chinese Studies from the University of Oxford. She is currently pursuing a PhD in East Asian Languages and Literatures at Yale University.
