Derek Sivers (born 1969) is an American entrepreneur, musician, author, and speaker, widely recognized for founding CD Baby in 1998. CD Baby grew to become the largest online distributor of independent music, profoundly impacting how independent artists could distribute and sell their work. Sivers sold the company in 2008 for $22 million, subsequently donating the majority of the proceeds to a charitable trust dedicated to music education. Since then, he has dedicated his time to writing, speaking, and exploring philosophical questions related to business, life, and personal effectiveness. His work consistently advocates for defining one's own success, embracing minimalism, and pursuing passions with deliberate intention.
