Synopsis

Haunted by the sudden death of his beloved wife, Jo, bestselling author Mike Noonan grapples with an agonizing writer's block and the profound emptiness she left behind. Drawn by an irresistible, almost supernatural pull, he returns to their secluded summer retreat, Sara Laughs, a picturesque lakeside home in rural Maine. However, the seemingly tranquil town is under the sinister sway of millionaire Max Devore, a man ruthlessly determined to gain custody of his three-year-old granddaughter, Kyra, from her young mother, Mattie. As Mike becomes entangled in Mattie and Kyra's plight, a deep affection blossoms, offering a glimmer of hope amidst his despair. Yet, Sara Laughs harbors ancient, malevolent secrets tied to its history and the land itself. Mike soon realizes that Jo's spirit, or perhaps something far more terrifying, is trying to communicate, drawing him into a chilling mystery that intertwines past injustices, present dangers, and the enduring power of love and loss. He must uncover the truth before the sinister forces at play claim another victim.
