Synopsis

In Robert B. Parker's "Ceremony," the formidable private investigator Spenser plunges into the murky depths of Boston's underbelly after a high-school girl, April Kyle, vanishes without a trace. His investigation quickly leads him beyond the usual haunts and into an illicit world of high-class brothels, entrenched vice, and systemic corruption. As Spenser navigates this dangerous landscape, he is joined by his loyal and equally capable sidekick, Hawk. Together, they confront a network of powerful figures who have a vested interest in keeping April's disappearance a secret. The stakes are incredibly high, as Spenser and Hawk race against time, battling against relentless adversaries and the pervasive moral decay that threatens to swallow April whole. The central question remains: can they penetrate this dark conspiracy and rescue April before she becomes a permanent casualty of a ruthless system, or will she remain forever lost within the city's predatory shadows?

Critical Reception

"Praised as a vibrant continuation of the hard-boiled detective tradition, "Ceremony" solidifies Spenser's place as one of the genre's most enduring and multifaceted protagonists."
