Synopsis

In Casey McQuiston's 'One Last Stop,' cynical twenty-three-year-old August arrives in New York City convinced that magic and cinematic love stories are mere fiction. Her plan to navigate life alone, working at a 24-hour pancake diner and living with eccentric roommates, seems perfectly rational. However, her mundane subway commute takes an unexpected turn when she encounters Jane, a dazzling and mysterious punk rocker who quickly becomes the highlight of her day. August's subway crush deepens, only for her to discover a fantastical truth: Jane isn't just an old-school punk, but a woman literally displaced from the 1970s. As August falls deeper in love, she must confront her own skepticism and harness everything she's tried to leave behind to help Jane find her way back, challenging her beliefs about love, fate, and the impossible.

Critical Reception

"Garnering instant bestseller status across multiple platforms and praised for its blend of humor, heart, and magical realism, 'One Last Stop' solidified Casey McQuiston's reputation as a leading voice in contemporary queer romance."
