Synopsis

Haunted by the suffocating pressures of urban existence and a pervasive sense of general unease, twenty-something artist Frankie embarks on a retreat to her late grandmother's remote bungalow on 'turbine hill.' This abandoned rural haven, three years vacant, becomes her sanctuary, a place where she desperately hopes to reclaim her artistic spirit and find her footing in life. Her days unfold in a quiet rhythm of half-hearted reading, passive radio listening, and a profound struggle to escape the protective shell of her temporary home. While family members initially drift in and out, Frankie is eventually left in solitary contemplation, wrestling with the events that led her to this introspective exile and the peculiar smell of the carpet that anchors her memories. Finding solace elusive in human connection, she turns her camera lens towards the intricate cycles of life and death in the natural world. This profound observation blossoms into a powerful meditation on the intricate dance between wilderness, artistic expression, and the fragility of the individual human experience.
