Synopsis

Fiona Maye, a brilliant and highly respected High Court judge in London, finds her meticulously ordered life thrown into disarray both professionally and personally. Her marriage to husband Jack is teetering on the brink, marked by an emotional distance that he attempts to bridge with an affair, leaving Fiona feeling isolated and questioning her choices. Concurrently, she is presented with an urgent and ethically fraught case: Adam Henry, a gifted 17-year-old Jehovah's Witness, is refusing a life-saving blood transfusion, a decision supported by his deeply religious parents. With his life hanging in the balance and time running out, Fiona takes the unprecedented step of visiting Adam in the hospital. This encounter profoundly impacts them both, stirring complex emotions in Fiona and awakening new perspectives in the boy. Her subsequent judgment, delivered with profound moral weight, sets in motion a chain of events that reverberates through both their lives, forcing Fiona to confront the true cost of her decisions and the limits of the law in matters of faith, autonomy, and the human heart.
