Synopsis

On the world of Pern, Lessa is a young woman consumed by a quest for vengeance after her family's murder and the theft of her birthright. Her life takes an unexpected turn when F'lar, a determined young dragonrider, recruits her, recognizing her latent potential. He offers her the chance to Impress a golden dragon, forging a telepathic bond unlike any other, and to lead Pern alongside him. This includes an intense, complex relationship with F'lar himself. However, Lessa's newfound power and courage are soon put to the ultimate test when the ancient, deadly scourge known as Thread — a silver spore that falls from the sky, destroying all organic matter — returns. Only dragons can combat this existential threat, but their numbers are perilously few. Lessa and her dragon may hold the key to Pern's salvation, but her daring plan demands sacrifices more profound than she could ever have imagined.
