Deven, a disillusioned college lecturer in the provincial Indian town of Mirpore, yearns for an escape from his mediocre existence. His life takes an unexpected turn when he is tasked with interviewing Nur, the revered but reclusive Urdu poet, for a literary magazine. Deven envisions this as a glorious opportunity to revive a dying art form and achieve personal recognition. However, his idealistic vision quickly shatters upon encountering Nur's chaotic reality: an aging, alcoholic maestro surrounded by sycophants, estranged wives, and financial disarray. As Deven attempts to capture Nur's genius, he finds himself increasingly burdened by the poet's volatile demands and the sordid complexities of his life. The project, intended to be a triumph, descends into a series of comic and tragic mishaps, forcing Deven to confront the harsh truths of artistic legacy, cultural decay, and his own moral compromises. He becomes, in essence, the reluctant custodian of a fading tradition, left to grapple with the profound and often messy responsibility of preserving a fragmented brilliance.
