Synopsis

Simon Axler, a once-revered classical stage actor, finds his prodigious talent mysteriously deserting him in his twilight years. The spontaneity and raw energy that defined his career are replaced by a paralyzing self-consciousness, plunging him into a profound existential crisis. His wife leaves him, and a stint in a psychiatric hospital follows, leaving him adrift and contemplating self-destruction. In a desperate bid for rejuvenation, Axler embarks on an unconventional affair with Pegeen Mike, the daughter of old friends. Pegeen, significantly younger and openly identifying as a lesbian for seventeen years, initially appears to be his unlikely salvation, reigniting his passion and sense of self. However, their relationship, fraught with power imbalances, age disparities, and psychological complexities, becomes a volatile crucible, pushing Axler to the brink of both revitalization and ultimate catastrophe, forcing him to confront the harrowing truths of aging, identity, and the elusive nature of genius.
