Synopsis

In Steven Erikson's 'Reaper's Gale', the Malazan Book of the Fallen saga plunges deeper into the heart of the collapsing Letherii Empire. Emperor Rhulad Sengar, driven to madness, presides over a court rife with Machiavellian plots and a pervasive secret police terrorizing its own citizens. As the ancient god Errant loses his foresight, conspiracies flourish, pushing the empire toward a catastrophic war with its neighboring kingdoms. A colossal Edur fleet, bearing formidable warriors like Karsa Orlong and Icarium Lifestealer, advances, each destined for a confrontation with the emperor. Amidst this turmoil, a desperate band of fugitives, including Fear Sengar, seeks to avert the impending Tiste Edur onslaught by finding the soul of the ancient tyrant Scabandari Bloodeye. Their journey is complicated by the presence of Silchas Ruin, Scabandari's ancient foe and brother to Anomander Rake, whose own vengeful motives are shrouded in mystery. This brutal and intricate narrative promises a reckoning of unimaginable scale, filled with dark magic, political intrigue, and harrowing warfare.
