Synopsis

In Val McDermid's chilling psychological thriller, "The Last Temptation," Dr. Tony Hill, a brilliant but traumatized forensic psychologist, is drawn back into the abyss when a serial killer begins systematically targeting psychologists across Northern Europe. Despite his reluctance to confront the dark minds he's specialized in understanding, the case becomes terrifyingly personal when a friend and colleague falls victim. The stakes are raised exponentially as Detective Carol Jordan, Tony's former partner, finds herself in the murderer's crosshairs while working undercover in a perilous world where human life holds little value. Tony and Carol are forced to reunite, navigating a complex web of deceit that stretches from the brutal realities of modern crime to the deeply tormented past of Nazi atrocities and Stasi abuses. As the danger intensifies and betrayals mount, they must rely solely on each other to survive and unravel the killer's motives before they become the next victims, facing overwhelming odds in a fight for their lives.
