Synopsis

Imogene, a new student struggling to find her footing in a strange new high school, discovers her world is far more perilous than it appears. Plagued by unsettling dreams that serve as stark warnings, she learns that soul-eaters, ancient and malevolent entities, are actively threatening her life. Desperate and isolated, Imogene finds unlikely allies in her introverted, but steadfast, new friend Maxine, and the melancholic ghost of a boy who eternally wanders the school's forgotten corridors. Together, this unusual trio must navigate the treacherous landscape of teenage angst and supernatural danger, delving into the hidden history of their town and confronting forces that seek to consume not just their bodies, but their very essences. Charles de Lint masterfully weaves a tale of urban fantasy, friendship, and self-discovery, where the mundane meets the magical in a battle for survival.
