Synopsis

In the gripping standalone novel "The Wrong Side of Goodbye," retired LAPD detective Harry Bosch finds himself navigating a new chapter as a private investigator in the San Fernando Valley. His latest case comes from an unexpected source: the reclusive and immensely wealthy aviation magnate Whitney Vance, who, on his deathbed, tasks Bosch with a deeply personal and potentially explosive mission. Decades ago, as a young man, Vance had a clandestine relationship with a Mexican girl named Vibiana Duarte. Soon after she became pregnant, Vibiana vanished without a trace. Now, Vance wants to know her fate and, crucially, whether he has an heir to his vast fortune. Bosch accepts the assignment, acutely aware of the dangers inherent when such immense wealth is at stake. As he meticulously uncovers Vibiana's tragic past, tracing her journey from poverty to unexpected opportunities, Bosch discovers unsettling connections to his own life, driving him to relentless pursue the truth, no matter how deeply buried or perilous it may be.
