Synopsis

In a world teetering on the brink of global anarchy, two legendary, sworn enemies are forced into an uneasy alliance to combat a shadowy, all-powerful organization known as the Matarese Circle. Brandon Scofield, a ruthless CIA operative and the West's most formidable assassin, and Vasili Taleniekov, a former KGB agent now hunted by the Politburo, are masters of espionage and violence. Their paths, previously destined for a mutual, bloody end, converge when they discover the Matarese, a Corsican Brotherhood, plans to destabilize the world through economic chaos and political assassinations. With a mysterious woman as their only link, Scofield and Taleniekov must put aside their bitter rivalry and combine their brutal skills and ice-cold nerves. They are the only ones capable of infiltrating and destroying this intricate, international network of killers before the Matarese succeeds in plunging humanity into irreversible darkness and destruction.
