Synopsis

In a quiet corner of rural Devon, a brutal crime shatters the innocence of six-year-old Joanna Hunter, leaving an indelible scar. Thirty years later, the man convicted of that heinous act is released from prison, casting a long shadow over those still haunted by the past. Meanwhile, in Edinburgh, the precocious sixteen-year-old Reggie is deeply concerned when her employer, a GP, vanishes without a trace, leaving behind her baby and a trail of unsettling questions. Reggie, wise beyond her years, embarks on her own investigation, feeling like the only one who cares. Across the same city, Detective Chief Inspector Louise Monroe is diligently pursuing a missing persons case, unaware that fate is about to bring a familiar face hurtling into her path. That man is Jackson Brodie, the private investigator, whose own journey becomes tragically interrupted, drawing him into a complex web of interconnected disappearances, unresolved trauma, and the elusive hope for 'good news' in a world fraught with danger and buried secrets.
