Nothing to Lose

Jack Reacher, a man with no job, no address, and nothing to lose, finds himself in a desolate stretch of Colorado between two eerily named towns: Hope and Despair. Seeking only a cup of coffee, Reacher is instead met with hostility from local deputies who arrest him on a spurious vagrancy charge and forcibly escort him back to the county line. Unaccustomed to being pushed around, Reacher's innate bloody-minded curiosity is piqued. He turns back, determined to uncover the dark secrets that the townsfolk and their menacing law enforcement seem so desperate to protect. As he digs deeper, Reacher uncovers a conspiracy far more sinister than simple small-town prejudice, putting him on a collision course with a formidable and ruthless adversary in a remote, isolated setting where justice is a foreign concept.
