Synopsis

Disgraced and reeling from a scandalous affair with her married archaeology professor, brilliant Wilhelmina Cooper returns to her ancestral home in Templeton, NY, a quaint town founded by her forebears on the shores of Lake Glimmerglass. Her arrival coincides with a bizarre event: the surfacing of a fifty-foot monster in the lake, instantly turning the quiet town into a media spectacle. Amidst this chaos, Willie's eccentric, born-again Christian mother drops another bombshell: Willie's biological father is a mystery, his identity hidden within the intricate tapestry of their family's past. Convinced that unraveling her twisted family tree holds the key to her paternity, Willie plunges into historical research. What she uncovers is far more complex than a simple lineage; a chorus of voices from Templeton's two-century-old history rise up, offering their disparate, often sinister, perspectives. As past and present blur, dark secrets emerge, old mysteries find resolution, and Willie confronts the truth of her origins and the town's enduring legends.
