Synopsis

In John le Carré's compelling post-Cold War thriller, "Our Game," British spymaster Tim Cranmer embraces early retirement in rural England, hoping for a peaceful life with his alluring young mistress, Emma. However, this tranquility is shattered when both Emma and Cranmer’s former protégé and long-standing rival, the brilliant double agent Larry Pettifer, vanish without a trace. Cranmer, a man accustomed to manipulating shadows from behind a desk, suddenly finds himself thrust into a desperate and dangerous pursuit. Suspected by his former colleagues and targeted by unseen forces, he must navigate a treacherous landscape of betrayal and secrets, journeying across Europe and deep into the lawless, fractured territories of Moscow and southern Russia. As he races against time to uncover the truth behind their disappearance, Cranmer confronts not only the ghosts of his espionage past but also the desperate fight to reclaim what little remains of his shattered life and honor.

Critical Reception

"Praised for its furious action, heart-stopping duplicity, and sinuous plot, "Our Game" is celebrated as a gripping and irresistible masterpiece that solidified le Carré's status as a titan of spy fiction."
