Synopsis

In a world irrevocably altered by 'The Change' a decade prior, where all advanced technology has ceased to function, humanity struggles to rebuild. In Oregon's fertile Willamette Valley, two distinct and thriving communities have emerged under the leadership of formidable individuals: the self-sufficient, democratically-minded Clan Mackenzie and the more martial, almost feudal Bearkillers. However, their fragile peace is threatened by the looming shadow of the Portland Protective Association (PPA), a totalitarian, militaristic society that views the Valley's rich farmland as vital to its expansionist ambitions. As the PPA mobilizes its forces, preparing to seize the land by any means necessary, the disparate leaders of the Valley must decide whether to unite against a common, ruthless foe or risk being swallowed whole. 'The Protector's War' plunges readers into a gripping narrative of survival, strategy, and the brutal realities of a post-technological world where might, courage, and moral conviction are tested on the battlefield.
