Synopsis

Steve Alten's thrilling sequel, "The Trench," plunges readers back into the terrifying depths where prehistoric terrors lurk. Paleobiologist Jonas Taylor, the only man to have faced and defeated a Megalodon, finds his past haunting him when a 20-ton captive Megalodon shark develops a taste for human blood. This monstrous predator, with its scalpel-sharp teeth and ravenous appetite, escapes its confines, unleashing a wave of horror along the California coast. As the body count rises, Jonas realizes that the ancient horror he once confronted in the Mariana Trench has returned, threatening to resurface from the deepest parts of the ocean where Megalodons have spawned for eons. Forced to confront his most primal fears, Jonas must embark on a desperate hunt, returning to the waking nightmare of the abyss to save humanity from an unimaginable terror.
