Agent in Place

Synopsis

In Mark Greaney's 'Agent in Place,' the Gray Man, Court Gentry, is plunged into the volatile political landscape of Syria. Hired by a clandestine group of Syrian expatriates, Gentry's initial mission is to extract the Syrian president's mistress, hoping to leverage her to destabilize the regime. However, the meticulously planned operation takes an unforeseen turn when it's discovered the mistress is harboring a crucial secret: a baby, the president's only male heir, hidden in Damascus. This discovery complicates the expats' agenda, leading them to abandon their support for the child. With the mistress's life tragically cut short and the boy's survival hanging by a thread, Gentry finds himself isolated and without official backing. He must now single-handedly protect the infant from the ruthless Syrian first lady and a notorious Swiss assassin, ultimately realizing that the only way out is to directly confront and take down the Syrian president himself, ensuring both his and the child's escape from an increasingly deadly warzone.
