Synopsis

In Kathy Reichs' "Fatal Voyage," forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan is thrust into a nightmare scenario when an Air TransSouth flight crashes in the mountains of North Carolina, claiming eighty-eight lives. As a member of the regional DMORT team, Tempe rushes to the devastating scene, where the discovery that many victims were from a university soccer team ignites a personal terror – is her own daughter, Katy, among them? Amidst the horrific carnage, Tempe partners with the FBI, NTSB, and other agencies, navigating multiple theories ranging from mechanical failure to terrorism and political assassination. The plot thickens with the puzzling find of a disembodied foot, whose microscopic analysis proves it couldn't belong to any passenger, hinting at a darker, hidden agenda. Further compounding the mystery are disturbing clues found near a remote mountain enclave, suggesting secrets some are desperate to protect. With assistance from Montreal detective Andrew Ryan and a special canine partner, Boyd, Tempe must leverage her unparalleled forensic skill and courage to unravel a shocking, multi-layered conspiracy of deceit and depravity before she becomes the next target.
