Synopsis

In 1882, New York socialite Sharisse Hammond faces a devastating revelation: her betrothed, Joel Parrington, is secretly in love with her younger sister. To escape a humiliating and disastrous marriage and her father's wrath, Sharisse concocts a desperate plan – she will pose as a mail-order bride and flee to the Arizona Territory. Her intended, the rugged rancher Lucas Holt, is a means to an end, a temporary reprieve while she maintains her secret identity. Sharisse, a pampered society woman, initially believes she has no intention of marrying him, nor could he ever truly want her. Yet, Lucas is not what he seems; charming and gentle one moment, then frighteningly cold and cruel, echoing the disturbing presence of his twin brother, Slade, who harbors his own dark intentions towards her. Sharisse finds herself inexplicably drawn to Lucas, her body betraying her with every kiss, leaving her confused and terrified of discovery. Unbeknownst to her, Lucas holds secrets of his own, having no intention of marrying her and meticulously watching her every move alongside his enigmatic brother.
