Synopsis

Aoife, a young woman who found a new life and an unexpected path in Dundalk's criminal underworld after leaving home at eighteen, has ascended from a petty hash dealer to a significant player. Sharp, resourceful, and unflappable, her only vulnerability is her captivating and enigmatic associate, Annie. Aoife is desperate to earn Annie's respect and keep her close, a sentiment not universally shared in The Town. When her associate, the Rat King, proposes a high-stakes deal involving ten kilos of stolen cocaine, he explicitly warns her to exclude Annie. However, Aoife, unwilling to proceed without Annie, devises a plan to leverage Annie's UK contacts, hoping to move the drugs far from Dundalk. Initially, their scheme unfolds smoothly, but Annie's unexpected decision to remain in the UK forces Aoife into a choice that irrevocably alters their lives, plunging her world into chaos. This novel offers a raw yet poignant journey through loyalty, love, and the perilous realities of the Irish border's underbelly.
