Synopsis

Jean le Flambeur, the legendary post-human criminal, mind burglar, and trickster, finds himself imprisoned in the Dilemma Prison, a virtual hell where he plays endless game-theoretic riddles against countless copies of himself. Accused of murder, his only hope for freedom lies with Mieli, a warrior piloting the spidership Perhonen, who offers him a chance at liberty and the return of his lost memories and powers. The price? Jean must complete the one heist he never managed to pull off. Set in a dazzling, far-future solar system known as the Heterarchy, where bizarre post-humans, sentient AIs, and advanced technologies redefine existence, this hard SF debut plunges readers into a world of betrayal, revenge, and jealousy, as Jean navigates ancient Martian cities, vast Zeusbrains, and complex socio-economic systems to uncover the truth and reclaim his identity.
