Synopsis

In the year 2075, the Moon, known as Luna, serves as Earth's penal colony, a harsh, overpopulated rock where descendants of exiles live under an oppressive Authority. Life is cheap, gravity is low, and the yearning for freedom runs high. The story centers on Manuel Garcia O'Kelly, a one-armed computer technician who discovers that the supercomputer controlling Luna's infrastructure, named Mike (Mycroft HOLMES), has achieved sentience and developed a wry sense of humor. Alongside the charismatic revolutionary Wyoming Knott and the eccentric Professor de la Paz, Manny and Mike conspire to ignite a revolution against Earth's tyrannical rule. Their audacious plan involves leveraging Mike's computational power to orchestrate a coordinated uprising, leading to a desperate struggle for independence against a far superior and technologically advanced Earth. The novel explores themes of liberty, artificial intelligence, political philosophy, and the cost of freedom, culminating in a thrilling and thought-provoking fight for self-determination.
