Synopsis

The suburban tranquility of Brian Darby's home shatters when his wife, state police trooper Tessa Leoni, claims self-defense after shooting him dead on their kitchen floor. Bruises on Tessa's body seem to corroborate her story, making it an open-and-shut case for veteran detective D.D. Warren. However, the alarming disappearance of their six-year-old daughter, Sophie, immediately elevates the investigation into a frantic statewide search. D.D. must reluctantly partner with her former lover, Bobby Dodge, to navigate the complexities of police loyalty and uncover the hidden truths within Tessa's life. As they dig deeper, questions arise: Could a highly trained officer truly kill her husband in cold blood, and would a mother harm her own child? Meanwhile, Tessa, walking a precarious tightrope, races against a terrifying deadline, using every bit of her training and cunning to achieve her singular goal, no matter the sacrifice. Her love for her daughter drives an unthinkable determination, promising that all who stand in her way will pay the price.
