Synopsis

In the winter of 1857, down-on-his-luck Mississippi riverboat captain Abner Marsh finds his fortunes inexplicably revived by the enigmatic and impossibly wealthy Joshua York. York, a man of uncanny paleness and steely resolve, makes Marsh an offer too good to refuse: funding for a magnificent new steamboat, the 'Fevre Dream,' with no questions asked about its considerable cost or his peculiar demands. Marsh, a pragmatic man, is initially suspicious but ultimately driven by the dream of a grand vessel. As the Fevre Dream embarks on its maiden voyage, Marsh slowly uncovers the terrifying truth behind York's mission: his patron is a vampire, seeking to establish a new, peaceful order for his kind among humanity, free from their bloodlust. This noble ambition, however, is fiercely opposed by the ancient, malevolent vampire Damon Julian, leading Marsh into a deadly, supernatural conflict that threatens to consume the entire Mississippi River.

Critical Reception
