Synopsis

In the concluding chapter of Isaac Asimov's monumental Foundation series, "Foundation and Earth" plunges former Councilman Golan Trevize, accompanied by the historian Janov Pelorat and the Gaian Jander Gorov, on an epic odyssey to locate the mythical birthplace of humanity: Earth. Having made the pivotal decision that Gaia—a superorganism planet with a unified consciousness—is the optimal future for mankind, Trevize remains plagued by a lingering doubt: he needs to understand *why* he chose Gaia and to confirm its correctness by uncovering humanity's origins. Their quest is fraught with peril and mystery, as all records of Earth have been expunged from galactic history, and even Gaia's vast collective memory offers no clues. Trevize, guided by his inexplicable intuition, navigates through star systems, encountering strange worlds and advanced civilizations, each holding a piece of the puzzle. The journey ultimately leads them to shocking revelations about humanity's past, its ancient protectors, and the true fate of its ancestral home, forcing Trevize to confront profound philosophical questions about identity, evolution, and the destiny of the human species.

Critical Reception
