Synopsis

In the chilling depths of Minneapolis, Detective Lucas Davenport is plunged into a gruesome hunt for a killer unlike any he's ever faced. A series of brutally murdered women terrorizes the city, each victim bearing a macabre signature: the initials "J.K." carved into their bodies. As the body count rises, Davenport uncovers a disturbing pattern connecting the killings to an audacious cat burglar, whose obsession seemingly intertwines with a mysterious woman. The killer, dubbed "the Alphabet Killer" by the media, is as elusive as he is deadly, toying with the police and leaving a trail of shattered lives. Lucas must navigate the psychological maze of a predator who is not just killing, but also sending a twisted message, all while racing against time to protect the woman at the heart of this dark obsession before she becomes the next victim. "Night Prey" is a pulse-pounding descent into the mind of a meticulous psychopath, challenging Davenport's deductive skills and pushing him to his very limits.

Critical Reception

"Night Prey solidifies John Sandford's reputation as a master of the crime thriller, offering a relentless and intricately plotted psychological chase that continues to captivate readers decades after its initial release."
