Echoes of the Great Song

Synopsis

The ancient empire, once ruled by the immortal Avatars sustained by magic crystals, faces an existential crisis. Their power wanes amidst catastrophic environmental shifts—a devastating flood and a sudden ice age. The arrival of two mysterious moons heralds a new and terrifying threat: the ruthless armies of the Crystal Queen, sweeping across the land and bringing utter devastation. As cities crumble and hope dwindles, the Avatars must set aside their long-held sovereignty and unite with their subjects. From the heart of this unfolding apocalypse, three champions rise: Talaban, a warrior haunted by personal tragedy; Touchstone, a mystic tribesman embarking on a desperate quest for his lost love; and Anu, the enigmatic Holy One, known as the Builder of Time. Yet, the fate of their universe may ultimately rest on the shoulders of two unexpected figures: Sofarita, a simple peasant girl whose courage will forge a legend, and Viruk, a tormented madman destined to transcend mortality and become a god. This is a tale of desperate resistance, ancient magic, and the birth of unlikely heroes against overwhelming odds.

Critical Reception

"Lauded by The Times (London) as a "humdinger" and a "masterly tale told with clarity and verve," the novel cements its place as a compelling work of epic fantasy."
